Definition: NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming)

Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) is concerned with the relationship between the mind/body (neuro) and the communicaton, including non-verbal, we use to describe and categorise our world and to make sense of our experience (linguistic) and the patterns of thought and behaviour that help or hinder us (programming).

NLP originated in the 1970s when John Grinder and Richard Bandler studied people who excelled in their field, with the aim of modelling their work to learn how they worked and with the aim of passing the knowledge on. For this reason NLP has sometimes been called the 'study of excellence.'

Since then NLP has spread into a wide range of uses and has applications in sales, therapy, education and coaching.
