Definition: SSRI (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor) SSRIs are a type of anti-depressant that make more serotonin useable by slowing down its removal, without actually generating more serotonin. Examples of SSRIs include Prozac, Celexa (Citalopram), Paxil and Zoloft.
SSRIs appear to be no more effective than other types of anti-depresants,
but tend to have fewer, or less severe side effects. Further information |
