Accomplish Goals By Increasing Self-efficacy    Reply with quote

Self-efficacy, by definition, is the measure of one's capability to accomplish a goal. It's the strong belief in our own abilities that we can deliver desired results. Our confidence directly influences our actions that affects its outcome, and by demonstrating an unshakable aura of self-confidence along with our commitment to taking appropriate actions steps to achieve our goals, we become irrepressible.

The goals that we set for ourselves may be challenging, but a lot of successful individuals have already proven that believing that you can do it outweighs a great number of factors that can affect your success rate.

To maintain confidence in your ability, you can build and increase self-efficacy with these research proven strategies:

1. Break your goal down into attainable steps - Taking baby steps ensures a higher level of success. This also promotes mastery of the skill required to achieve your goal.

2. Mental rehearsal or visualization - Be around the successful people who have similar endeavors as yours. Vividly visualize yourself performing the task as if you already have achieved it.

3. Positive Affirmations - "I can do this!". Be in control. While it may be an overly used positive affirmation, we know it works all the time.

Having a high level of self-efficacy will definitely lead you to be creative with your strategies, and you will regard challenges and adversities in a positive way.

Self-efficacy versus efficacy:

Unlike efficacy, which is the power to produce an effect—in essence, competence—the term self-efficacy is used, by convention, to refer to the belief (accurate or not) that one has the power to produce that effect by completing a given task or activity related to that competency. Self-efficacy is the belief in one's efficacy.

- This is Wikipedia's Definition.

I believe resilience is a better goal than self-efficacy. In this resilience, things such as self-efficacy will be developed. (Without having to think about it)

I think a better way to achieve this "irrepressibly" you speak of (inability to be constrained) would be to build personal strength. Physically and Mentally. Exercise, Eat Well, Take care of your body, etc.. Improve mentally by keeping your brain sharp and advance your learning.

These things will bring you closer to this power you desire (control). You have to eliminate some of the labels that have brought a weird aura to discussing confidence. It makes confidence seem like some mystical thing. Get stronger. Get smarter. I believe it to be as simple as that.

In being resilient, you will come to find that less affects you, and that problems will be easier to handle. It's a snowball effect. Your resilience will only grow stronger as you successfully move in the direction you desire.

How do you develop this resilience? Be a constantly developing and adapting human. Take what you can from your environment around you to ensure your future success.

Destroy your problems and worries, always be ready for the next challenge.

Let nothing and no one stand in your way.
