Does this ring true to you too, or is it just me thats weird

Postby YouCanDoIt » Mon Dec 05, 2016 9:33 am

Someone made a reply to one of my recent posts which said:

Depression: I hate it, but it feels like an old friend. Yes, I am aware of how twisted that sounds but…

I can identify with that.

Does that ring true to you too? Or is it just me and him that are weird? :?

People are most comfortable with what they know.

If you are not depressed then you are in some other emotional state. This other state comes with a different set of expectations. It can be exhausting to be in a state that has expectations you find difficult or uncomfortable to deal with. For instance, a happy person is expected to be upbeat, social, friendly, giving, etc. For some that is not as comfortable as the expectations that come with depression.

I do recognize what you wrote here.
You have to find a new friend, that fits better than the old one.

Does depression listen to your problems?
