Quit smoking

Postby laureat » Mon Nov 13, 2017 2:51 am

Hi there just want to say hello and share my two goals here:

1. I want to quit smoking ( cigarettes )
2. I want to lose some weight

I am 32 years old now and have been smoking cigarettes since i was 16 years old : and i have gained some weight: i want to be healthier and motivation to do it

The bad thing:

I love cigarettes , they remind me relaxation, and i love food, and i often find myself anxious which can easy drive me smoke or eat

My plan how to do it: to find better replacements: when i become anxious : walking, playing games, doing home work, fruits, vegetables , watter, and so on

I just had about 4 1/2 months without a cig and started back up again after a lot of stress. After you have you get thru the withdrawals, you won’t miss them much. It’s a disgusting habit. It gets on your skin, breath and clothes and reeks. You also feel weaker and unhealthy. If you haven’t stopped, maybe start by downgrading to an ecig?

Just to go over the cold turkey withdrawal symptoms I experienced:

- Irritability - For months I was a nasty bas%%%% - I can admit that
- Fatigue - I needed more rest
- Increase in appetite

Positives:

- I felt stronger physically
- Less of a cough
- Food tasted much better
- I didn't smell like an ashtray 24/7
- Skin improved
- Libido skyrocketed

There are a ton of positives, if you make it thru

One additional tip - Cigarettes are an upper. The feeling of relaxation is a mirage. IMHO they increase stress and anxiety. The relaxed feeling you may get, is just your body getting it's fix of nicotine. Despite irritability, without your blood pressure and heart rate will go down.

For starters, I am really proud to know that you decide to quit smoking. That is one of the healthiest choice you'll ever made on your life, believe me. You can take my word for it.

However, quitting really is a process which requires a lot of discipline. You just have to hold on your decision to quit smoking.

Great work! Your thread has given me a little motivation! Instead of buying a pack of Newports this morning, I opted for an ecig with 2 refills. I'm hoping to start tapering off. Newports have to be one of the worst cigarettes out there for your health imo. Feels like I've been dying since starting to smoke these things again

Thank you!

Dont wait! Join me and lets quit smoking together

I have been following my plan from monday: i reduced my cig to 1/2 and i have skipped two of my three meals a day

I used to smoke a pack of cigarettes a day ( 20 cigs ) Marlboro

How am i doing it?

My idea was to simply challenge myself with not being allowed to smoke: two hours yes, two hours no

Next week im about to go: one hour yes, three hours no
