Hearing loss and cold?    Reply with quote

The past few days, I had a cold and feeling a little better now but Im worry about my left ear, I lost about 70% of my hearing after this cold I had, I could hear a little when something is closer to my outer ear canal and I can also feel a clogged feeling in my left side of my head (near the ear). I just want to know if anyone feel like this before. I will make a doctor's appointment to get check out about this.

Happy Holidays!

yep, i got the same thing recently with a cold. it was my right ear though.

they gave me otravine to spray up my nose and it cleared in about 4 days. it was blocked eustation (if thats how it's spelled) tubes.

I have quite a lot of sinus trouble so it was all an extensiion of that.

merry christmas!

Your eustacian tube is blocked. This can happen with a severe cold. Don't worry about it. Try to get some Vicks Vapour Rub or menthol drops to add to boiling water - place a tea towel over your head over the bowl and inhale it.

You can also buy decongestant capsules from the Chemists.

It's not dangerous, merely unpleasant.

im also having the same problem in my right ear. i have had a really bad cold now for a week, it started with a saw throat and rapidly developed into a chesty cough and a feeling of groggyness.. my ears fealt under pressure and i was unable to clear them because my nose and head fealt so bungged up.. now im starting to feel better, and my cough has pretty much cleared up, also my nose feels clearer (not completely).
but now the hearing in my right ear has decreased by half i would say, and i also have slight pain as if my ear drum is under pressure..

Get some menthol crystals from a chemist to put in hot water - just put one in and put her head over the bowl - cover it with a towel.

(You know this is a panic attacks and anxiety forum right? Laughing )
