Just wondered how much inderal other people are taking to cure their shakey voice etc in public speaking. Is 20mg enough, 30 40 even?
Cheers |

Hi Liquid Force
I'm afraid I don't know the answer to your question. It is probably something you should ask your doctor about.
Your might like to have a look at this post.

Hi Sexysue1961
Welcome to the forum.
Indural is another name for Propranolol which is a betablocker usually prescribed for people with high blood pressure among other things.
Used for anxiety it help by lowering the heart rate for those that find a racing pulse difficult to cope with.
Hope this answers your question.

Dangerous prescription though. You need alcohol to cope with life's challenges. |

You mean, life's problems, right? People don't abuse alcohol for a few challenges - they have real problems. And drinking a few glasses of wine to settle one's nerves is not a dangerous prescription. Having a few bottles of wine then driving immediately afterwards is a dangerous prescription. Have some perspective please. You can lower your nose now. |

I've read the other responses to your email and I concur. NO DRUGS AND NO ALCOHOL. They only camouflage any fear you may have. If you fear speaking in public, then join Toastmasters and practice, practice and practice with your group in Toastmasters.
You may also learn about fear and when and why you got that fear because we only have two fears when we are born -- loud noises and heights. All other fears are learned.

"NO DRUGS AND NO ALCOHOL. They only camouflage any fear you may have."
There are plenty of good reasons to avoid drugs and alcohol but this isn't one of them. I'm sure 99% of people on this board with a severe public speaking fear would be ecstatic to find something that camouflages that fear. |

You can take 40-80mg, take it about an hour before your speech.
40mg should do the trick, otherwise some of the side effects could be problematic. These include drowsiness (very common) so watch driving home! also nausea, vivid dreams, dry mouth, cold extremities etc. |

I just wanted to say that inderal made the miracle for me too! i was suffering from that phobia for about ..20 years...and the last time, aboyt a week ago i found out aboyt it and decided to give it a try! well, i had to speak before a large church congregation. the other times i would suffer and suffer and suffer but this time, oh God it was amazing! i enjoyed the whole part ot it. but most of the enjoyement was that i had no fear! i performed a wonderful speech, no symptoms at all. it is so nice to give speeches! i enjoyed it!
i just wanted to know how long does the effect of the pill last? i mean if you have to perform and it isn;t for just an hour or so... do you have to take anohter one? or what?
thanks a lot |
