At the meet last night I suggested that we have a meet up in Oxford in a few weeks and there seemed to be some interest.
The students are back now and there are some good pubs in the city centre amongst all the colleges. I have one in particular in mind.
My current thinking is a saturday afternoon and evening, including finding some dinner at some point, in a few weeks time.
Any takers? |

Right. I think we're going to go for Saturday 7th March for this.
Ages away but just like the other meets it'll come soon enough. |

*bump!*
Saturday 7th March.
Meet up in the afternoon, find some dinner, then see what we can find in the fine pubs of central Oxford.
Who's coming? |

Just posted in the Bristol 2 thread. Will have to see if i can make it as I'm moving house that week. Def want to come though but chances are it won't be until later in the eve.
If you can post the meeting place details then that would be good. |

It's in the diary!! Gigs permitting, I'll drive down for it.
With regard to The London meet on the 26th of this month, please can I remind you:
The Crown and Two Chairman pub on the corner of Dean Street and Bateman St in Soho.
http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/74/748/Crown_And_Two_Chairmen/Soho
It has a nice upstairs with sofas and doesn't get too mobbed. Nearest tubes are Picadilly Circus and Oxford Street.
Nice!!

Okidoki. I'm just making this up on the fly, but how's this.
Let's go for the Head of the River pub at 2:30pm.
When I know how many people to expect I might book us a table at a restaurant for about 6pm.
Later in the evening we can move on to any of several nice pubs in the city centre. We'll definitely need to visit the Turf Tavern though, as it has a huge beer garden heated by braziers that would be perfect for grabbing a few unsuspecting students.
If you're coming from London I suggest you get the train. Parking in Oxford city centre is... haha... well, good luck if you try! Besides, it means you can enjoy the ale houses properly. The last train back is just after 11pm. |

Ok folks, I'm in. However I won't be able to attend until closer to 7.30-8pm so if someone would be kind enough to give me their mobile number so I can locate you when I arrive that would be great. By all means PM it to me of course. |

Parkey,
Thanks for the contact info. Can you possible give me the name of the venue and the vanue and the postcode of where you are most likely to be at around 7.30-8pm so I can use my tom to find you? Of course if I have any problems that I'll give you a shout on route. I will be driving so will obviously have to try to find a car park too so if you have any sugestions for that (with a postcode) then that would be fantastic.
I've been to Oxford castle a couple of times but other than that I don't know Oxford at all and will probably end up very lost so make sure you can hear your phone! LOL |

The Turf Tavern is probably where we'll be. like many other Oxford pubs it's concealed within a quantum eddy in space-time and can only be found by those who already know it's there.
Best to get in touch on the evening to check where we are though.
As for parking... the centre of Oxford really isn't car friendly. The park & ride is a good option and runs until past 11pm on Saturdays. Otherwise try this. I always use the train or the bus myself. |
