Women, fantasy and ambition!  Reply with quote

The Observer Magazine reports research on the link between how women view their boyfriends and career ambition. (Article titled 'The Mental Block')

'Women who were more fantasy-prone also tended to aspire to occupations which required fewer qualifications, would be paid less and they had less interest in high-status jobs (eg, corporate lawyer, senior manager). They were also less keen on roles that required being a group leader. '

Reverse the question!  Reply with quote

The article starts with the question:
"Are women who are prone to see their boyfriends as romantic fantasy figures less ambitious in their careers?"
which to me would infer that the way they see their boyfriends is the cause of the lack of ambition.

but turn the question around: are women who are less ambitious in their careers more prone to see their boyfriends as romantic fantasy figures?

Somehow I prefer the inference in the turned-around question. Wink

Ally, I like that. lol. I can see it work either way. However, being a female, I like the question phrased as you did. The sound of the original does have a ring to it, but still, I agree with you.
