In The Bridge Across Forever he tells his partner Leslie how he became a writer: by doing odd jobs, having his car repossessed, going hungry sometimes, but always writing and submitting to publishers until finally he was on his feet and then in the air.
That could be you, Yossarian. A love of reading and writing is great but not enough. You have to take yourself seriously and be businesslike about it. Pick an agent or publisher who handles the kind of thing you write, check their website for submission details and get cracking.
