Mid-40s - Don't feel old at all but...

Postby Capricious71 » Sat Jul 30, 2016 7:18 am

I've worked in a university for nearly 16 years doing IT work. I mostly enjoy it but the years have rushed by and I've always had the feeling of wanting to be somewhere else.

I saw a job doing a job that I'd be ideal for at a university in the US. I think that'd be amazing for a couple of years. The thing is, I'm single. Do you think, even if I got the job, that people would think I was weird going all that way on my own? I think I'm a perfectly normal person. It's just, I don't know, maybe I've left it too late in life? My low self-esteem has often got in my way.

Thanks for reading.

Yes. Some people will think it is weird. Some people will not. And? What do you care?

Where you currently work, start wearing a bow tie. Some people will think you are weird for wearing a bow tie. Wear it for 2 weeks, then ask yourself how awful of an experience you had. What do you care that some people might think your bow tie is weird?

Why do you care so much what people think about you? People are different and have different thinking/opinions. No one is the same with another and no two people have the same thoughts/opinions on the same thing. Who cares? Look up about this topic on Google.

About being single, it may be a good thing. You have all the freedom to do whatever you want. Nowadays, so many people get married and then divorce because they have different thinking, ideas, opinions. They disagree with each other. They don't want to be controlled by the other. They fight constantly. They can't stand each other. They want to be single again. They want freedom. Everything has pros and cons. Live for yourself. Be nice and kind, help others a little; but don't care so much about what others think about you.
