The spam on here really sucks

Postby Julia Stretton » Mon Aug 08, 2016 10:10 am

Both yesterday and today the Psychology forum was flooded with messages advertising some silly astrology service, each containing a long phone number in the subject title. Yesterday it took hours until the posts were deleted. At the time of writing, the spammer is still continuing to post their messages at the rate of about one per minute.

Surely it should be possible to develop some algorithm that prevents that kind of spamming? E.g. banning posts containing several numbers in the title, or preventing users from making several posts in the same location within a short period of time.

I hope someone can do something about it. Not only is it extremely annoying, but it pushes other posts by people who write about actual problems to the bottom of the page or even onto the next page, where they are less likely to get noticed, and those seeking advice might not get the help that they need.

Thanks in advance for looking into this.

There was also weed advertisements.
There should be mod applications so members can become moderators and fix forum.

It seems that the moderators already have deleted some posts. I would like to thank them for that.
It seems also that you expect that moderators have nothing else to do to keep a total costless forum clean, before some people start yelling and crying
