You're right.
What have you done with these thoughts?

That's true.

We can't avoid making decisions.

If we choose not to change, we automatically choose to stay the same.

If we choose not to go back to Istanbul, we automatically choose to stay in Manisa.

If we choose not to quit our job, we automatically choose to continue working in the tax office.

If we choose not to talk to anyone, we automatically choose not to have new friends or a romantic relationship.

If we choose to keep putting our troubles on the Uncommon Forum and not do anything about them, we automatically choose to keep having the same experience, day after day, year after year.

If our lives aren't working, all we need to do is choose differently.

I'm glad your life is working well enough. A roof over your head, food to eat, clothes to wear, and enough money left over to go out for dinner, listen to music, pay for your internet connection. It is a good-enough life that you've chosen not to change it.

Doing nothing is not an option. But we can always choose to do differently.

If you believe a therapist will be able to help you change your mind, start looking for one. Because, as shown above, you've chosen the life you're living now, but we know you're not happy with it.

You can either change your life, or change the way you think about your life. I'm sure Manisa has everything you need to be happy, it's just that you're not out there looking for it.

So in fact you don't choose to change your life. You choose to make excuses.

That takes energy, too.

Pretend that you are experiencing freedom. What does this freedom look like to you, how does it feel, how does it sound, what is surrounding you, how do you spend your day . . .

But you do, you see.

You post here every day about how anxious, worried and unhappy you are. And you comfort yourself with the very foods that increase anxiety and misery... to say nothing of weight.

I've written before that our own bodies are the very thing we can immediately start to get under control. It's still true.

Freedom from intrusive thoughts? I can't understand. I'm physically free to do anything. Restrictions are worries and money. If I haven't worried and didn't lack energy I will travel the world
