Strange Colleague

Postby Capricious71 » Sun Sep 10, 2017 10:08 pm

I've worked with this person for quite a few years. We've never got on, though I was always pleasant from the start. I don't actually take it too personally as apparently he doesn't like people in general, so said his wife.
Anyway, he's got a habit of pulling a face whenever I say something, as if to say I'm an idiot, which I don't think I am. He's incredibly condescending. I suppose it's passive-aggressive because he backs down whenever I've mentioned it. It's really tricky to deal with and I don't know how I haven't hit him yet.

I think he's resentful of me but I don't understand that because I don't really get like that about other people.

Any advice? Thanks.

the best is communication, if you can express what you think and feel in a positive way he can feel comfortable with you, even if you express what bothers you of the world, your mother, your father, your boss or whoever, if you do it with honesty, he will feel at ease with you, because you show yourself as you are, and in time he may also be able to open honestly to you, and tell you his problems

something also very positive is to do something together outside of work, to go out to eat something, to drink something, to talk in a relaxed way like two friends, to think about their lives, the future of each one, in their past, and talk about different things like friends

good luck!

Uh, ignore it? Is that not possible? Are you incapable of simply ignoring it at continuing the conversation? Why?

The reason I ask the above is because you clearly say you have worked together for years. You know this person has this habit. You know this person is this way. So when they do it, when they pull a face, why are you surprised? Why does it still offend you after years of the same? Why do you expect this person to change how they behave around you?
