What does it matter what they may or may not think?

They may regard it as an abuse.

My dear chap, smiling and saying hello can't possibly be construed as abuse!

If there's a supermarket in the shopping centre, it's quite easy to chat to people searching the shelves. Or at least, I've always found it so.

Going to take a nap now. It's cold and dark, and I drank too much yesterday. Recovery day for me.

Keep having the same thoughts, you'll keep having the same feelings.

You've done nothing wrong, per se.

For me personally, talking (typing) to someone who keeps up a repeating pattern of self-criticism, with no self-motivated changes in sight, is not something in which I wish to continue to partake. But I can repeat myself back to you, when I have the self-motivated/triggered urge to do so.

It's not to say that I don't have my own issues of making needed changes; I'm just as human as anyone else.

According to Scott Peck in The Road Less Travelled, this is the number one cause of dissatisfaction in life. Avoiding or ignoring problems doesn't make them go away. The problems get bigger and we get smaller.

When we solve a problem, we demonstrate our competence to ourselves. In other words, not only have we solved the problem, but we've boosted our self-esteem at the same time.

When we shy away from our problems, they usually get worse. Even if they don't, we have a sense of failure,

M. Scott Peck wrote:Most do not fully see this truth that life is difficult. Instead they moan more or less incessantly, noisily or subtly, about the enormity of their problems, their burdens, and their difficulties as if life were generally easy, as if life should be easy. They voice their belief, noisily or subtly, that their difficulties represent a unique kind of affliction that should not be and that has somehow been especially visited upon them, or else upon their families, their tribe, their class, their nation, their race or even upon their species, and not upon others.

If you've been avoiding problems all your life, you've convinced yourself that your problems are bigger than you are. Now the only way out is through: starting with one small problem, resolve it. Then go to the next small problem.

You won't get to the end of life with everything resolved, because life doesn't work that way. But if you begin to face your problems, you'll begin to feel better about yourself.

Good morning candid :) abother day from hell here. Late for work no motivation worries no need to say you know. I used the word problem not in the context you mean I used for catastrophic events like living in streets etc. I have problems in the context you mean. Pending works things about car etc but my work ducked the he'll out of me I'm just paralysed can't do simplest things. That's a major source of pessimism and o don't know how to overcome..
