Hi there!
I've been teaching public speaking for 30+ years, and my best advice is to do a number of things.
1. Learn how to do deep breathing so you can be calm when you approach the lectern.
2. I advise my clients to have a script. No, you don't have to READ from it, but having one will help you relax because you can use the script as a crutch if you blank out. I also have some pretty specific ways you can create your script so that it is a really effective tool.
3. Practice, practice, practice. Especially with your transitions between points.
4. Use pauses as a way to let the audience absorb your latest point, AND to give you a chance to take a deep breath. This will also help you avoid 'shaky voice' syndrome.
If you would like more tips, my podcast, Episode number 5 is all about overcoming your nervousness about public speaking. It if free, and you can also request a download as a reminder.
You can find my podcast if you search Presentation Professor on iTunes.
If you have any questions, just ask! I'm passionate about helping people overcome stage fright!

The basic problem most of people havs is the expectations from oneself; you got to be reasonable a begginer level is a begginer level and you be reasonable

But this doesnt mean relax and do nothing and have no problem with failure and mistakes you got to Learn fast: if you want to succeed in life

There is nothing wrong to make mistakes
However, there is something wrong if you do the same mistakes over and over ; you got to have your notebook for your notes, you got to solve problems and memorize or remind oneself

You got to move forwards

And this can happen if you only know what to expect from oneself

I think that the best way to achieve long term confidence on stage (and not just use tricks which are bandages over a hige problem) is to
1. Understand where this fear comes from
2. Take action

1. This fear comes from your underlying beliefs. Even though you might not be aware of it, you probably unconsciously believe that you have to be perfect for others to like you, that if you say something wrong people will think that you are stupid and will think less of you, that what you have to say is by default bad and you have to make an effort to monitor your every action... These beliefs were acquired as you were growing up, in school, through your parents, your peers, ... As a child you misinterpret people's criticism and anger towards you as signs that they will abandon you unless you are perfect.

2. You can only let go of these beliefs by taking action. Put yourself on stage as much as you can, face as many situations where you feel the same kind of fear. When you notice this fear, tell yourself that it is just your body trying to protect you from being rejected and abandoned (it believes all of the things I wrote above about you not being good enough). Don't trust the fear and do it anyway. Once you start to see that it is OK for you to be "imperfect" (the audience tends not to notice these imperfections), to make mistakes or even get confused. You will come to see that people want you to do well, and you will stop seeing the situation as scary or dangerous.

Hi Suraj, I've been there. I was a shy person and worst of all I never tried to overcome that nature of mine. The main reason people often get stage fright because they don't feel themselves to be that good or attractive or they don't think that they can charm or influence people. The Best way to overcome that is to feel good about yourself firstly, be proud of what you are. This will definitely give you some confidence. Try to develop and grow your personality by talking to new and intelligent people.
And in the end, try to be the best version of yourself.

There are mainly two reasons for the fear of Speaking in Public-
1-You might have spoken earlier in front of the audience but it turns out to be a very bad experience. It hurts you so badly, that you don’t want to do the same thing again.

2-You might not have attempted any speech till date. Now you want to attempt but you scare that what your audience will think about you if something went wrong. Would your speech go as per plan? If not then what if people make fun of you? What if you get nervous on stage? What if people force you to get out of the stage?
However, we can remove the fear of Speaking in Public with thorough preparation and practice. It is also a well-known fact that the only way to eliminate the fear of anything is to face it.
