Not Running Out Of Things To Say

Postby Darkwingduck » Fri Jun 15, 2018 12:31 am

So I have found in my journey of growing in my confidence that this is one of the biggest issues I faced. However I have found a solution that it super helpful. What I used to find myself doing is trying hard to think of something that will make the person I'm talking to like me. That is the first fundamental mistake. What I found helped me was to start saying things that I found interesting, funny, or insightful. In other words I was talking for myself, and not for others. This changes it to what you say being more authentic and just sounds more confident. You gotta try this out, it's not easy at first, but it is a game changer. Sure some people won't like you're authentic self, but that just means they're not someone you're compatible with. When you find someone who is compatible though, this will be way more effective.

What I have found works is to ask questions and then follow up with more questions and let them do the talking. It is pretty simple.

Who, what, when, where, why and how are all very easy, excellent questions that can keep a conversation going indefinitely. You don't need to think of anything insightful or try to impress, but instead let them provide the material and you just provide being genuinely interested in who they are as a person.

When the conversation is over, they truly appreciate the time spent with you, as unlike the majority of people, you gave them the opportunity to share their thoughts without trying to impress them.

Yeah, I like this for sure. It's great way to try and get used to talking to people. I suppose I'm just thinking in a more advanced mindset. I have always wanted to have conversations where I didn't just listen, but felt genuinely involved. That's why I try to think of ways to make statements other than just asking questions. It's not as natural that way.
