My Anger + My Relationship = :/

Postby AlexAmazeballs98 » Mon Oct 08, 2018 2:51 pm

I don't know what's wrong with me. I am so quick to anger and it's ruining my relationship with my boyfriend. He feels like he can't bring up things that bother him because he doesn't want to get me mad and he doesn't want to argue. I don't want him to feel like he can't communicate with me about his concerns or feelings. It hurts him when I get that way and I don't want to keep apologizing to him anymore. I want to show him that I can communicate in a non aggressive manner. I want to show him that we can resolve our problems together without me getting defensive and irrational towards him. I just don't know how to go about it and I'm willing to hear how you guys would handle a situation like this.

Thank you so much for the reply. I'll try meditating. I'm not sure how to do it but I'm sure I can find ways online.

Hey Alex,

Try Headspace.

When you feel the anger emotion creep up, acknowledge it, then tell your boyfriend you're feeling angry. Know that it is going to pass. I have issues with this myself.

Anger is the onset of fear. So perhaps try dealing with your fear head on and confront your fear. I'm currently seeing a hypnotherapist and maybe it's helping. Either way, this doesn't just go away, it will take a lot of commitment and self reflection.
