I'm inclined to agree.

Over the weekend you and I spent a lot of time considering happier ways of thinking... and now this. It's... disappointing.

I'm going to rewrite your title:
Happy and confident, every time, everywhere

These alternative ways of thinking can bring about miraculous changes. There are stories about that all over the internet, in books, in films... It's a movement that's been gaining a lot of credibility in recent years.

But no one else can think in your head. No one on UF or anywhere else can stop you thinking, all day and every day, I must have done something wrong, I'm too shy to talk to people, I'm hopeless, I'm miserable, I'm desperate, someone will have to rescue me, they're going to find me out and put me in jail, I'm worried about this, I'm anxious about that, my mother's visit may cause a problem, drinking/walking/going outside may be harmful, and burble burble burble burble burble burble 24/7 without ever so much as a minute off. You'll acknowledge a positive idea such as
Happy and confident, every time, everywhere
then the next post is I'm too stupid, I'm useless, there's no hope for me, my-father-eats-people-so-what-can-I-do, I hate my job, I have no friends and burble burble burble...

You defeat yourself with this thinking.

Happy and confident, every time, everywhere

Think it
Feel it
Believe it
Make it true

An observation that is intended as a beneficial criticism: you think instead of do. You have thousands of posts that reflect your thoughts, not your actions.

Typing “I’m happy and confident...” doesn’t translate, because you know it is derived from thought not action. Contrary to popular belief, a person can’t keyboard their way to happiness, because there is a very important relationship between thought an action.

What action makes you more confident? Going for a walk even if you don’t feel like it. That builds you up, because you point to a concrete action that has made you stronger, that has increased your confidence, that gives you something to be happy about.

After a walk, the thought “I’m happy and confident...” has action in support of that thought.

A phrase I use often is “Make it a good day”. The key word is “make” as in action. You make it happen. The great thing, is that each of us gets to choose what action or actions will make a day good. No one else can make that decision.

Last night, I thought about two spiders that had taken up residence in my apartment. I decided that to make it a good day I would put down the pesticide, and instead collect and release the spiders outside. Regardless of what else happened, I had made it a good day for me. Such a small, insignificant act, but the value, the power of the act is that it made me happy. It can be that simple.

Take out a notebook. At the top write “good actions”. Write down every good action you take, or at a minimum, write down at least one good action you take each day. At the end of the week your good actions will justify your thoughts.

I can make a walk if that helps. I too try not to hurt animals as much as possible. What are other good actions? You can give me an idea of what to do.

Look you shouldn't care what other people think. I can honestly say I don't care what you think, say or do. You are completely free to do whatever you want. If you want to be depressed or have anxiety I really don't care.

Since you apparently can do nothing for yourself, have you ever considered doing something for other people?

There are plenty of unhappy people right here on your favourite forum. In your more than 10 years here I don't think I've once seen you try to help or encourage anyone else.

I think it would feel good, for you.

What do you plan to do with yourself? Will you visit your mother?
