Has anyone actually managed to "FIX" their mental health?

HI new member here,

Just wanted to ask if anyone out there reading this has ever managed to have any form of permanent success, about getting over or living with their mental health problems?

No beating around the bush here, just is it actually possible yes or no, and if so how did you do it?

Hey Frosteddonut


I have bipolar 2 disorder. Not fixed. Not got over. But definitely living a good life with and despite of it. I won't lie, it has involved work and acceptance of some things.

I'll be happy to expand on this, if you want, after I have an exam and a move out of the way, in the next 2.5 weeks.

Hello New Member too.

Just wanted to say. That I too have Bi polar disorder and am managing it well.
The process has mostly been about changing my perception on life and how to deal with people. Acceptance is a major part of it. Along side that I have studied personal development, communicating effectively. With any problem one has to take small steps and allow even uncomfortable emotions to come to the surface and deal with it. "We" in the UK or western society our taught to suppress our emotions. Which only makes things worse in the long term.

By dealing with each issue, accepting you can't change the past and re-framing ones perception... Things can appear to be a lot better.

I'll be happy to give examples if you want me to expand on this.

"Fixing" is not really a single thing you can do. It is dedication, it is a lifestyle, it is a mentality, it is an outlook. To "fix" your problems, you need to change your whole way of thinking and behavior, which usually requires dedication. It is a continuum, some "fix" it better than others

Short answer: YES!

Long answer: Almost 100%, like 98%....
I experienced a sexual assault three years ago, and I had mild PTSD and dissociation, after attending therapy the past 9 months and doing EMDR and iRest, I honestly can say I have little to no dissociative episodes, at least not at all like I used to. I am not sure if you could say "cured" but fixed is a yes! I have things I do daily that prevent any anxiety, hyper-awareness, or hypo-awareness and I have never been happier.

If you are feeling like there's not a lot of hope, there is! It took me 3 years to find ways to help myself and for some it will take longer or shorter.

I still suffer from depression and some depersonalization that has been ongoing my whole life, but I only see the symptoms if I don't do my daily routine of mindfulness and a few drops of CBD.

Wow, kennedyjb, what a great endorsement of EMDR and iRest!

I'm familiar with EMDR but iRest is a new one on me. Will you elaborate?

Meditation has been in practice for a huge number of years. Meditation initially was intended to help develop the comprehension of the sacred and mystical forces of life. Nowadays, meditation for stress reduction is commonly used. It has numerous health advantages and is a highly effective approach to relieve pressure and maintain a healthier lifestyle. With practice, meditation becomes both more of an easy habit to maintain and more of an effective one as well, given that it builds resilience to stress over time.
