15 months PAWS update

Postby thegreatdane » Thu Apr 04, 2019 9:29 am

Hey guys. Im 15 months clean in a week or so, so here is my monthly update:

Im still affected by paws. This month has been better, i havent had so many bad days and most days have just been "normal". Sometimes i get a good day or half a good day where i feel really confident and happy, it happens rarely but it reminds me that that is how im gonna be feeling when im fully healed. I somewhat catched a contact high earlier this month and the day after i got hit by so much anxiety which reminded me what i felt like when i smoked weed. It really reminded me that i have acually made progress in terms of anxiety, so i guess healing is happening and im better than i was during month 6 for sure. Somedays i feel like im back at day 1, and somedays i feel like a little progress has been made. Its a long journey and im happy to be here fighting each day for happiness. Meditation, diet and exercise has helped me loads lately, so i really recommend that to anyone struggling with PAWS. Lets hope month 16 is better!

I am at 16. months 16 ATM and feel exactly the same as you!

The progress is really slow but looking at it from periods of 3 months, I can say for sure that our bodies are healing.

Good to hear Sanchez! The main problem is that i still have social anxiety and low confidence that i got from weed addiction, so i havent even been grateful for the things that have actually gotten better such as anxiety, more control of my life, and so on. Lets see what our journey will bring :) Apperantly 24 months should be where we really will see results

I'm a couple of weeks away from 15 months sober and I agree with both of you on all points, lol. I still have a couple of symptoms (visual disturbances/chronic aches and pains) that drive me nuts and they don't seem to improve, and progress feels so slow, but I am undoubtedly improving if I look backward at 3 month intervals.

I know that I’m further down the line, about 4 years, but I can report from here everything has gone. No PAWS, no desire to smoke, head out of the shed. You’re most of the way there, stick at it and before long it’ll be like you’ve never smoked.

Thanks ade, how long did it take for you to feel much better? Did you struggle with lack of energy and low confidence as well during the healing process?

I am in the same boat as you thegreatdane. Month 15 of paws and my main issue is the f***ing social anxiety . Back when I first quit it was so bad , I had to take a semester off school because I just couldn’t socialize I was so paranoid and was convinced people were always judging me and thinking I was weird . Couldn’t even walk down the street without thinking people in the cars were staring deep into my soul. As a result my confidence also plummeted . But from then to now I am loads better like I can actually relax in public and talk to people . Still not 100% still have the anxiety but slowly its going away hopefully . As for lack of energy it never was super physical but mostly mental . For example couldn’t focus on school , or I have thought of starting my own business but don’t have the mental drive to do it . Meditation has helped immensely . Anyway hope your doing good Dane and I am sure Ade Wales is right , we just gotta keep pushing and we’ll make it .

Lebbyblonde - Wow, im kind of glad im not the only one with the social anxiety issue. Mine is maybe 20 percent better than in the first months, but i still have a looong way to go. Very rarely its much better, but its pretty much there all the time. When i smoked weed i also got crazy social anxiety but when i stopped it got much worse. Im sure this will fade over time, as its probably the brain rewiring our dopamine and serotonin receptors which we destroyed from smoking so much weed everyday. Before weed i didnt have this kind of social anxiety so i know its from the weed addiction. Maybe also some trapped past emotions, but i believe time, meditaiton, and exercise will cure us. I can really recommend cutting pornography aswell as it targets the same receptors in the brain as weed. Try and search up the link between porn and social anxiety, SO many stories and experiences. Anyway, im so glad im not alone and im not the only one suffering this long into my journey. Love you guys man, lets hope it will all be over soon

Hi fam. Everyday is a battle for me. It's been a year seven months up to date bit the suffering stop has a hold on me.

Most symptoms are gone. I struggle with head pressure and crippling insomnia. Sometimes I just want to give but their is so much at stake.

This thing restricts me from my full potential. I'm often restricted and pinned down my bed. I quit my job and don't pursue my freelancing side hustle as often as I did.

Anyone still going through head pressure, scalp pressure, headaches after a year in six months?

Mercuem - What other symptoms did you have which are gone now? I wonder where the headaches, head pressures and so on causes from and why only some people get them. My paws symptoms have mostly been mental. I have had a bit insomnia from time to time and i did have stomach problems along the way. Just for the sake of it i would say you really need a clean diet, exercise and meditation if you are not already doing it. Get enough vitamins in. Exercise and get that blood circulation to your head and scalp. Hows your diet? If you are already doing these things then its probably 100 percent PAWS

Keep up the good work. Rooting for you, you are making good progress. It sucks but in another few months you will be even better.
