Has any one looked into the Wim Hof methods of breathing, cold exposure, and meditation? Specifically wim hofs breathing exercises.
I noticed a lot of people are under the impression the only way to get over these symptoms is a “time heals all” method. Which is true, but 1-2 years of day to day extreme anxiety, loss of sleep, confusion, panic attacks, fainting, muscle pains, side pain, irritable bowel, derealization, depression, countless dr and specialist visits ect ect is just not my cup of tea, in fact it makes it all worse.
I’ve done relentless tests at the drs from mri of neck and head, ultra sound of neck and sides, eeg, vng, tilt table, blood test after blood test, holter monitor ect, to just keep hearing you are healthy and nothing is wrong. I’m grateful for my healthy results but western medicine is just so irrational. They want to treat symptoms and that’s it.
After going mad and broke trying to figure out what’s wrong I noticed one key factor mentioned by even our western medicine studies of practicing breathing techniques to reduce anxiety. This led me into another realm of Chinese medicine and theory of ying and yang of the bodies energy.
A friend of mine told me about wim hof randomly months before I even had problems and I just brushed it off as another crazy man seeking fame.
Long story short after researching the past 4 months trying to resolve my symptoms I have came to the conclusion we have seriously messed up our vagus nerve. This nerve is responsible for anxiety, heart rate, hearth rythm, blood pressure, inflammation control, gut health, digestion, throat/swallowing, auto immune diseases and more. Everything suggested deep breathing to tone the vagus nerve. Which brought me back to my friends suggestion of wim hof breathing.
So for the 7 days from doing this 5 minute a day breathing technique I can honestly say I feel 100x better than any pill a doctor could give to me.l or any amount of healthy eating/exercising/supplement taking. My fibromyalgia is under control , my side that has been aching uncontrollably (for no reason according to the drs) has completely vanished , my random fainting has stopped, my head pressure and dizziness is gone, my extreme anxiety/panic attacks have been reduced to almost zero, my sleep has greatly improved.
I just wanted to share what I found as it has helped me rise up on a world that was spiraling down so quickly. And hope to help others. It seems insane to me that this breathing technique could do anything but if you take the time to watch all of wim hofs videos and the studies done on him and on the groups of people he trains in just 4 or 5 days and the profound effect it has on the immune system you will be blown away. Seems to good to be true as all this information is free but wim wants it that way.
Some of you may have heard of his as the “iceman” holding several world records for ice water diving and holding his breath. He also climbed mountains with -25 degree windchill in nothing but his beach shorts. You can literally change the chemistry of your body with these mindful techniques.
I will include a few links to YouTube videos... but I strongly urge you to dive deeper into the university studies done on him, as all he is doing for the most part is activating his vagus nerve to provide these superior results. My next level will to be to venture into his cold training starting with cold showers and practice techniques outside during this winter.
He has helped so many with illnesses and I think this is another category it can carry over too. While I’m no scientist and have no proof if our vagus nerve become damaged at one point after chronic drug abuse I have seen plenty of articles referring to chronic stress and anxiety damaging the nerve.
Just my 2 cents. Hopefully this can help someone like it has helped me. I would suggest watching his word of caution and how to videos before starting the actual breathing training, and make sure it’s only videos coming from wim himself. Short back ground of wim, his wife passed away and it sent him into a world of depression of which he figured out how to get out of through cold exposure and breathing and taking control of his body which in turn made miraculous discoveries on the effect of a lot of other issues diseases/sickness/anxiety/immune function ect ect. So while we sit around wondering if it will ever go away or waiting to go to the next drs appointment wonder if they’ll ever find something wrong I’d suggest giving this a try and see how it works.
