My lifes purpose

Postby Optymistyk » Wed Jan 08, 2020 4:30 pm

I've been trying to understand what's my purpose in life for the longest time. What is my goal. My family and friends told me my purpose in life should be to find a job I enjoy doing and spend my lifetime perfecting the craft.

I don't think such a job exists however, I don't think there's any activity I could do forever and not find it dreadfully boring and exhausting. I hated my studies because I saw no purpose in them other than getting more pay later on in my life. Any job I've tried I hated or began to hate very quickly, as there was no purpose to it other than trading my life for money. It made me not want to wake up in the morning and I became depressed.

Then something happened. I had a thought, that maybe you shouldn't be looking for a job you enjoy doing, but rather for a job you think is important? Even if you don't like doing it, even if it disgusts you, but at the end of the day you come home proud that you did something good today... Like a surgeon who maybe doesn't enjoy doing his job, but he's proud of the lives he saved and the people he's helped? What do you think?

Yes. Purpose is best defined by the people you help. The great thing about purpose is that you get to decide. You can choose who you wish to help and how.

Yes. I honestly feel finding the right purpose isn't by job. Our purpose in life depends on how treat each other and the love we share to improve other people's lifes. I would say my friend your choices on your purpose will be truly rewarding

I was thinking I should become a teacher or a child psychologist. I think the education system is bad and we lack good teachers who actually give a damn. So many bad things have their beginning in school - loneliness, depression, anxiety, death of creativity. School is a place where grades in some useless subject are somehow more important than helping the kid who gets bullied. When I was in school everybody knew I was bullied and noone gave a damn. I think there's no task more important than making sure the kids have a chance at becomming happy productive adults

Sounds like a life's purpose. It is only a matter of in what manner that purpose is fulfilled. That you also get to choose, e.g. teacher, counselor.
