Breathing Obsession, in a very bad place

Postby Jimbojambo » Thu Feb 06, 2020 1:24 pm

Hi folks

I’ve developed a rather horrible obsession with my breathing which has progressively gotten worse over the past five weeks to the point that now I can’t sleep without pills and that every breath i am conscious of is causing me spikes in adrenaline and anxiety, it is truly torture, despite me seeing a psychiatrist and trying different exposure methods to reduce my fear and obsessive focus its only serving to make this focus more pronounced and stronger, i feel physical pressure on my chest all day every day because of it.

I know nothing is wrong with my breathing it’s the mere thought of breathing itself that distracts and depresses me, I don’t know what to do i am a prisoner in my body, i have contemplated some very dark drastic things to make this stop it’s really no way to live. Can anyone help me to rewire my thoughts around my breathing, every breath brings my attention to it which makes me anxious.

Any help would be greatly appreciated
