Off weed for 2 months. tinnitus and eye floaters

Postby johnal123 » Mon Nov 16, 2020 7:58 pm

Hey All,

I've been a regular follower of this forum since i stopped smoking weed and started getting my withdrawal symptoms. However i've been experiencing tinnitus, dry eyes, eye floaters and confusion and dizziness (which feels more like an anxiety attack but unsure). However i am getting a sleep of atleast 5-6 hours a day until the nightmares wake me up. and for some reason the days i get a nightmare are the days i experience some new shitty withdrawal symptom.

I have tried talking to my GP but he thinks it's my allergies but definitely doesn't feel like that to me. That's when i started stumbling upon posts from this page.

I am wondering if there are more people out there who have been experiencing all these symptoms and how you managed it and how long it stuck around for.

I smoked 2 joints in this 2 months period to try and see if it would make things better but it didn't and i did not wanna try using it continuously and make things more worse.

Please share any insights and experience you have about this.

Most doctors will attribute PAWS to other things, because it is not researched in medical literature at all.

I did have all the symptoms you mention; and I have read of others here who also have. I didnt have tinnitus constantly, but once every few months lasting 2-3 days each time. But others have had tinnitus constantly. I have eye floaters, but have always had them and dont know if they are caused by PAWS.

Bad dreams for me lasted a long time, almost 6 months; and recently had some mild bad/scary dreams (at 20 months) that came with a resurgence of other symptoms. Just like you said, it usually comes along with another symptom together.

Back when I first quit, I started smoking again to see if it relieved the symptoms. It didnt, until I started smoking regularly again. but, when I stopped smoking regularly again, my symptoms returned 110%. It was horrible.

Im at 20-21 months now, and most of my symptoms are gone completely. Some still linger though. From what ive read here and other forums, most people it lasts 6-14 months.

Cheers, hope you feel better.

Floaters are age related and quite normal. Anxiety is also quite common. My advice is not to attribute everything to PAWS or because you've stopped smoking. Acceptance and patience is key. Embrace your new life rather than analysing the one left behind or you remain in it.
Do things, mix with non smokers and look at every day as an opportunity to do things you can put off stoned.
All will be well. Try and not pinpoint events eg at 6.23 weeks I had a twinge in my leg..PAWS?? At 3 years, 4 months my headache was worse..PAWS? Neither you or anyone else knows what does this but it sure keeps you in that moment.

I still had momentary bouts of tinutis even one and half years into my quit. But after about 2 years it completely subsided.
