hypnic jerking

I am 5 weeks marihuana free after heavy use for 10 plus years. Has anybody else had consistent hypnic Jerking, limb spasms when trying to fall asleep consistently. This is by far the toughest thing for me as it makes falling asleep almost impossible, I am just looking for some reassurance. The doctor has prescribed me 100 mg of gabapentin to help once a day, so a very very low dose. I just need sleep.

I've experienced hypnic jerking. I'd guess it happens a few times a year. For me, it isn't something that happens often enough for me to seek out a root cause or a solution.

What I would suggest is to focus more on an intermediary cause, e.g. anxiety/stress. Be mindful of what types of activities you are engaging in close to sleep. Start shutting down earlier. Establish a routine.

Thanks for the reply, this didn’t start until a couple weeks after I quit, which I why I feel like it’s related to a healing nervous system.
