Please guide me this time! I'm in severe misery!!

Postby WontGiveUp » Mon Nov 05, 2007 6:11 pm

It's been about a week since I've joined this forum and I'm about done with my third week of quitting hash after nine years of addiction (daily smoker). I've already made two posts, and read many of the posts in the forum which I find very very beneficial.

Can anyone tell me if there are any threads/posts relating to recovery from hash addiction? I don’t think hash and weed are the same. Or maybe I'm wrong. I'm really miserable during this third week of quitting hash after 9 years of daily smoking. As most of the posts are centered on quitting weed, I keep wondering if it’s the same as quitting hash???

I'm coping to the best of my abilities and already taking Omega-3 daily, but my anxiety is still there and the mood swings are unpredictable. I don’t want to give up and I hope I won't. This is my first time to quit hash in 9 years, and my head is pounding day and night. Sleep is very uncomfortable and concentrating during office hours is even worse. I guess that’s the result. Can anyone give me any hope?? Any hope please - I feel like I ruined my entire life!! I am really miserable and no longer know how to deal with this issue and I think its increasing my anxiety day after day. I would really love to hear from someone who is recovering from hash and would really love to hear their advice. Are there any other hash addicts in this forum who that can help me ease this pain?

Thanks and please please please please do help by guiding me!

thanks to consider

It's still THC though, isn't it, so I don't think it's entirely different.

I gave up a few months ago, not finding it hard to be honest because I chain smoke cigarettes all day now instead.

One step at a time though, eh?

Good luck.

Hi Wontgiveup,

WELL DONE three weeks without a hash is fantastic !!!!

I'm on day 25 without so we are both about the same stage with this. Its tough isnt it!

Yes Hash and Weed are exactly the same stuff.
Its the THC (tetrahydracannibal) sorry thats not how you spell it - I'm rubbish at spelling - but this is the stuff in grass/weed/hash that gets you high. Its all the same just some stuffs stronger than others.

I've been reading your other posts - sounds like your on your own dealing with this. If you don't have anyone to talk to keep posting on this forum - we are all here to help and all going through the same experiences.

Take each day one at a time - every day without hash is one more day that your body and mind is getting used to being normal again.

Well done again for 3 weeks

thanks for reply, Im actually taking every minute at a time. I've noticed during the last few days Im getting more emotional with a alot of regret over those 9 years which I cant even remember cleary. When does it get easier?or does it get worst than this??

I keep wondering what the upcoming period holds for me, it scares me even more. Each day I wake up and wonder how will today be. For some reason my left head is constantly in pain, as if I'm hungover, and I feel a lot of pressure/irritatation within and surrounding my left eye - all of this is causing more anxiety and increasing my constant thinking. Blaaa, this is not easy. :x

Hey don't be afraid of what's happening - you CAN do this if you want to. Can you take any time off work? You might not want to be at home alone without your drugs but it's nice to be able to just go lay down and stare at the ceiling if you have to and sleep as late as you want to. Try to treat yourself nice - if you can afford it go get a massage, or exercise really hard and/or sit in a steam sauna to detox some. Swimming really helped me because it was all encompassing exercise that totally exhausted my body and allowed me to relax afterwards. You probably do have a lot of repressed emotions that will come up later but try not to worry about that right now while you are still in physical pain. Just try to relax and by that I mean exhaust your muscles as much as possible so your brain can settle down.

And for god's sake take something to go to sleep, you don't have to be a martyr!!! If OTC doesn't work, ask your doctor for something mild for the short term. A good night's sleep sometimes is the answer to everything.

Good luck, don't give up, keep us up to date.

hash and weed aren't exactly the same. hash is more refined. it should very similar to giving up weed and i cant really comment on the difference.

Good day! In my country most people smoke hash, you see a little of everything, some people quit without any trouble at all (like my brother) it's true that cigarette smokers have it a little easier, I went to my psychologist to quit smoking and the first thing she told me is don't quit all at once, one step at a time, first I had to reduce my smoking to 1 joint a night (to make my mind get used to sleeping withought it) then I changed this joint with one cigarette, I don't smoke regular cigarettes but that's why it helps to sleep, when you inhale a smoke it make your brain have less oxygen and this make you become dizzy for a few minutes so it helps go to sleep.
I had to make a lot of exercise in order to get my body very tired... and the endorphins that we segregate when we exercise makes us happy so it really helps!! It gives you discipline and it makes you have more will power.
Although I have friends that can handle their regular life and smoking perfectly! They just maintain in smoking 1 or 2 a day and they've been like that since they were very young... It all depends in you. I had to quit because it does not make me happy... I don't feel like doing anything else but smoke and had a lot of problems in sexual matters... My couple was tired of me passing of everything. But I still smoke once in a wile in a party... on a special weekend... And the thought of that made it easiert too... Don't think of it forever... Just start seing how long you can take wighought smoking... and keep going. Never quit trying!!! With time you'll still miss smoking but I can assure you will not feel bad about as soon as you fill your time up with things youll enjoy doing with time.
For me it was kind of like learning to like and take interest in simple things again. And it helped me thinking that I didn't depend on something in order to be "happy" and for hash smokers is much easier to quit than a alcoholic or cocaine addict... If they can do it you can do it!! Your dependence is only psychological ;) it's all in your mind so go for it an prove you can beat anything!
My psycho says it takes around 6 months for the THC to completely leave your body, once that happens... it's much easier. The worst for me was the first 3 months... Do like with a beak-up, just keep your mind busy ;)

Good luck!!!!!
