Am I ruining things by doing that?

No, you're just getting the laundry done.

Washing machine sounds can be very soothing.

It's not often enough or loud enough to bother me, just reminds me Other People are out and about.

Weekdays it's a good indicator of Time To Get Up, especially now we have very short daylight hours. Saves me checking the time.

Then it's ok. In turkey days are not so short in winters.

I know. It's still dark at 7am here, and dark again around 4pm. And getting worse. :( At the moment it's still safe to walk around, even after a mini-stroke that leaves me with one untrustworthy foot. God help me when there's ice on the ground, as well!

I find something magical in short days they aren't so bad for me. Take care about the stroke wishing you well..ice on ground stressing indeed.

Yeah. I'm walking very slowly in little steps now... when it's icy I think I'll have to hibernate like a tortoise.

I understand you have wild tortoises in Turkey. Have you ever seen any? People go there from England just to look for them.
