Hi! just signed up, found this forum over the net a few days ago and read some stuff (esoecially here in addiction) and i said, "hey, this forum site looks cool." so i give it a shot. hopefully, there is some enough space here for me.

So here we go, my name is Dan, btw. You might be asking why the hell i post a thread here in addiction section. Well, i'm heavily addicted on certain things. Porn, sex, alcohol and drugs to list a few. so i'm looking forward maybe i can find some support here and somewhat change my direction of life. that's it. Later guys.

Hi Dan. Welcome to the forum. Hopefully you can get the support you require. I find it fascinating how our brains seem to look for things to get addicted to. It seems when we like something our, we just want to do it to death. This for me is the key to many addictions. It's the way we handle relationships. I know from my own personal experience, if I like it, I feel comfortable and if I feel cofortable, I don't want it to stop. You didn't say whether or not you were wishing to quit these things you're addicted to but I'll suppose you are as you're on here and wish you good luck in your journey.

Hi Dan

There are fellowships for each of those issues.

A fellowship works on the basis that there is a program of recovery, a group of people who want to change their lives and the sharing of difficulties in achieving this.

For me I belong to AA. you can google AA or NA to get going.

The reason I needed a fellowship to stop was that I tried stopping in my own strength a number of times. Usually at a physical or mental low point. As soon as I started to recover the thought to drink again would enter my mind and I had no defence against it. The recent low seemed to be insufficient to keep me stopped.

The ideas that have helped me stay stopped, I would never have though of my self. That is why I needed a fellowship. Find a meeting near you and get to it.

A friend of mine says AA is not for people who want to stop drinking, it is for those who can/t stop drinking.
