Stress releases cortisol, increases blood pressure, leads to a higher risk of a heart attack.

Yes, but only if an individual views stress as a negative experience. New research shows that it's not stress itself that causes health issues, including heart attacks, but the belief that stress is harmful:

If you suffer with medical anxiety (hypochondria), then you can be convinced that your anxiety symptoms are organic medical conditions. So your stress-related tachycardia is dealt with as if you are having a heart attack. Are you having panic attacks?

See you doctor to rule out any organic conditions. There's nothing like having peace of mind!
